Just...Life
Ever wonder how you manage to do everything you need to get done on a daily basis? During the week? Even during the month when they just seem to keep flying by, and of course, you can't find the remote, so there's no chance of hitting that pause button? And before you know it, the day is over and you've missed the sunset?
Me. Too.
I was sooooo incredibly busy all throughout college, participating in clubs and activities left and right, on top of all my studying and having the best social life, EVER. Who would have thought that by becoming an "adult" you actually have less time for yourself, not more.
Case in point- my last blog post was in 2017. What have I been doing all this time?! Stressing over all the things I have to do or all the things I have NOT done- that's what.
I've truly been trying my best to focus on the things that make me happy in life. I've tried to reason with myself over things that would create so much stress in my life in the past. Whether it's my constant need to make others happy or my pursuit of being the absolute perfect small business owner- I'm making more time for me and telling myself it's okay sometimes to put myself first. It's okay to not get everything done.
Pushing the deadline on a project? It's alright. You can get up early in the morning and finish that, no problem. Tonight, your body is telling you it needs to take the time to relax and create a healthy meal for the evening.
Too tired to go on a run? Don't worry- your body is telling you it needs rest. Hit the sack early this time around.
Feeling guilty for wanting to catch up on a Netflix show rather than go out for dinner and drinks with friends? They are your friends, and they feel the same way sometimes. They will understand and not begrudge you this one night.
Life needs to be enjoyed during every possible second we have. We get busy. Time gets away from us. Other events pop up unexpectedly. It happens, and we are all in the same boat.
What's important to remember is that we still need to make time for us, no matter what. Life is meant to be enjoyed, not to become full of stress and be constantly worrying about time wasted or time flying by too fast. Slow it down sometimes, and think about what you really need- what your body is telling you, what you feel you need to do. It's okay to listen every now and again.
Breathe. Pause. Forget everything you should be doing. Watch the sunset.
And just be.
-Cheers
